4 - 30 mins Sessions
Kiersten is a transplant from New York, where she grew up playing any sport she could from gymnastics to diving, soccer, basketball, skiing, cross country, and track and field. Always curious about how little changes to her own training could lead her to become a stronger and faster athlete, Kiersten was drawn to biology, a degree she pursued at The Ohio State University, with a pre-med concentration. Upon falling in love with her anatomy and physiology class, she moved to Chicago to complete her M.S. in Kinesiology at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Here she realized her joy of bringing the biochemical and physiological science of the classroom to the application in the gym.
Kiersten currently works at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago as an exercise physiologist teachings group fitness classes for those with Parkinson’s, and working one on one with patients recovering from injuries or diagnoses such as spinal cord injury, stroke, cancer, and multiple sclerosis. She also works as a Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer at The Admiral at the Lake, an independent living center for people over the age of 65. She loves to use her passion for health and fitness to encourage others to push their own physical and mental limits to achieve their goals. Kiersten firmly believes that exercise is the best (and cheapest!) form of medicine that will lead to a fuller life.
She is a volunteer coach for the Latin High School Cross Country/Track and Field team and volunteers with the non-profit Back on My Feet. After running track in high school and college, Kiersten was inspired to run the 2014 Chicago Marathon, where she qualified for the 2016 Boston Marathon. She will run the 2016 New York City Marathon and hit up Heartbreak Hill at the Boston again in 2017. Kiersten loves being active in all forms of training and exploring all the great outdoors has to offer. In her spare time, she enjoys drinking coffee, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen (aka always baking), reading non-stop and rooting for her beloved Buckeyes and New York Yankees.
