September Member on the Move: Andrew Murray from CTF West Loop
What do you do from 9 to 5? I’m Director of Sales for a company that insures attorneys for legal malpractice. We work with law firms on risk and practice management and defend them in situations of allegations of wrongdoing.
When do you make time to workout? I enjoy working out and make it a priority, so I always find time which is consistently in the evenings. I generally go to the 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm classes. I’ve attempted to work out in the morning before work, then my alarm goes off and it’s just not happening. Still debating on another attempt.
What inspired you to get into CTF? Friend and CTF trainer, Sonya Latinovic, introduced me to CTF. I always worked out alone and at a slow pace, so I didn’t necessarily think I would become a regular, but I was into it from day one. Then meeting other trainers and learning their individual training and motivational styles was a game changer in my workout routine.
Tell us a fun fact about you! I was at a Wyclef concert and sitting front row. I claimed I knew the lyrics to House of Pain’s Jump Around which I don’t. He pulled me up on stage to sing it with him. I spent a good minute running from him all over the stage while he chased me around trying to hand the mic to me, then he gave up. Not a proud moment.
Classes keep me engaged and actually working out new muscles. Especially like the trainers who take the time to personally coach and make sure your form and movement are consistent. Class goes by really fast and always feel accomplished after I finish.

It’s extremely hard and I love it!

I really loved CTF, everyone was personable. Each workout was unique, the instructors were attentive. All ask about first timers and keep an eye on you which is great. The environment was not intimidating at all. There was never pressure to move at a pace you were uncomfortable with. I only stopped because I moved out of the state but CTF is what I want every gym/program to be from this point forward.

The workouts are challenging, but also unique. I prefer working hard for a short amount of time rather than prolonging the actual workout time.
