Tell us about you goals, what inspired you to get into CTF?

Fitness has always been important to me. So when CTF first opened I was currently at another gym but wasn’t getting the challenge and results that I wanted. I joined with my brother and sister in law to make it a family affair. We all had goals from either losing weight or my goal was to lose inches from my waist and tone up. The very first trainer I started with was Tres. After taking his class that’s when I knew I was at the right gym. CTF has really helped me feel and look my best. Thank you all for that.

What do you do from 9 to 5?

 I work at the University of Chicago as a surgical nurse from 7am-3pm.

 When do you make time to workout?

I workout right after work or if I know I will work late I will do a 5am class. No matter what my day looks like I will get a workout in (everyday if possible).

How do your workouts at CTF keep you going in your busy professional life?

The workouts at CTF keep me motivated, energized and focused. I’m in the orthopedic team, so when I set up for surgeries I have to have strength to carry multiple trays to and from the sterile field as well as have the energy to run around when I have an unexpected situation during surgery. As in my personal life, I have a 3 year old niece that loves to run around and I’m the lucky chosen one who can keep up with her.

What’s one goal you have inside the gym and one outside of it?

My goal inside the gym is to work on my abs, stay focused on form, without correct form than I won’t get the results that I’m looking for. My goal outside of the gym, since I’ve been picky with food lately I need to try cooking up new healthy delicious meals.

Tell us about you goals, what inspired you to get into CTF.

I am originally from Los Angeles, CA and have been in Chicago for about 8 years now. I started going to CTF because of it’s convenient location, I live about 2 doors down from CTF. But I’ve gotten hooked to the high intensity workouts that have really built my endurance and strength.

What do you do from 9 to 5?

I am a Postsecondary Coach at the Network for College Success at the University of Chicago. I provide job-embedded coaching to Chicago Public School counselors to increase college enrollment and attainment for high school students. I also help lead professional learning communities for CPS educators and our whole organization works to provide research-based educational reform to neighborhood schools.

When do you make time to workout?

I try to work out 4-5 times a week and mostly take classes in the morning before work. If I can’t make a group class, then I squeeze in a personal training session with Alysha about once a week. It’s awesome when I can take advantage of the child care at CTF too. I mix it up every so often with a yoga class, spin class, or just running outside when I can’t make a CTF class.

How do your workouts at CTF keep you going in your busy professional life?

The workouts have definitely helped me find balance between work, family life, and time for myself. I’ve finally gotten into a workout rhythm that works for my work and home schedule and I enjoy the time I have to focus on myself at the gym. I’m also getting married at the end of July so I have some strong incentive there to get fit for my wedding!

What’s one goal you have inside the gym and one outside of it?

I am running my first half marathon, the Rock N Roll 1/2 Marathon, and I’ve been training with the CARA Road Scholars, which is a mentorship-based running program. So I’ve been training alongside some amazing and dedicated CPS high school students. One goal inside the gym is to continue to become stronger and continue to model health and fitness to my three year old daughter.

Tell us about you goals, what inspired you to get into CTF.

As a dancer, I am constantly trying to stay fit and easily get bored at the doing the same workout all the time. I love that every CTF class is different and keeps your body guessing. Some gyms can make you feel intimidated, but at CTF everyone is friendly and supportive which makes the workouts fun.

What do you do from 9 to 5?

I am a professional dancer with Giordano Dance Chicago. We perform and travel all over the country and internationally. I also teach dance throughout the city and suburbs! CTF has been a perfect way to cross train and stay in performance shape.

When do you make time to workout?

I’m not a morning person, but like getting my workout done early so I feel good the rest of the day. However, getting a good workout in at night helps me destress when I’ve had a long or stressful day! My daily work schedule changes from time to time, so I am lucky to have the option to work out at different times each day.

How do your workouts at CTF keep you going in your busy professional life?

I love that each workout at CTF is completely different from the next. It helps keep my body guessing and ready for anything to be thrown at me during dance rehearsals.

What’s one goal you have inside the gym and one outside of it?

My upper body has always been the weakest and hardest part to train for me, and CTF has helped push myself to get stronger in those areas. My goal outside of the gym is to consistently eat more healthy so that all the hard work in class can pay off and show through!
